The Greatest FA Cup Final Goals - 11 to 20

The FA Cup, the most famous domestic cup in world football.  This Saturday (27th May) London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea face off in the 136th edition of the showpiece Cup Final.

To whet your appetite for the big game, we have looked back through the archives and selected what we think are the 20 best goals in the FA Cup Final over the last 50 years, starting today with a look at numbers 11 to 20.

20.  Teddy Sheringham - Manchester United (versus Newcastle United) - FA Cup Final, 1999

Part two of United's treble bid was completed in the 1999 FA Cup final thanks to a 2-0 win over Newcastle.  A free kick on the halfway line started off a great team move that included a clinical pass from maestro Paul Scholes to Sheringham who slotted home from just inside the box after 11 minutes, two minutes after the striker entered the game.

19.  Eric Cantona - Manchester United (versus Liverpool) - FA Cup Final, 1996

Cantona, one of the most controversial footballers to ever play the game, turned from sinner to saint in the 1995/96 season. Having sat out 9 months of action between January and October 1995 for an altercation with a fan, he returned to inspire United to double glory.  He capped off the comeback scoring the only goal of a dull FA Cup Final against Liverpool in May 1996 with a pinpoint strike through traffic in the Liverpool box.

18.  Didier Drogba - Chelsea (versus Manchester United) - FA Cup Final, 2007

Two of the best sides at the time went head to head for the right to be crowned FA Cup winners. The first final at the new Wembley, the game was settled in the 116th minute with a delicate chip from Ivorian striker Didier Drogba over advancing keeper Edwin van der Sar to give the Blues the Cup.

17.  Charlie George - Arsenal (versus Liverpool) - FA Cup Final, 1971

One of the all-time famous Cup Final goals happened in 1971 when Charlie George hit a screamer (for the time, based on the footballs used) past the Liverpool goalkeeper to win the Cup for Arsenal and secure the club's first Double.

16.  Ian Rush - Liverpool (versus Everton) - FA Cup Final, 1986

Rush was one of British football's most prolific strikers ever scoring hundreds of goals for Liverpool.  One of his most famous was in the 1986 FA Cup Final against Merseyside rivals Everton.  This goal sealed a 3-1 win for the Reds and was one of the most iconic goals seen at the time on TV as his low-shot from the right hand side of the box hit the camera in the bottom corner of Neville Southall's net.

15.  Stuart Pearce - Nottingham Forest (versus Tottenham Hotspur) - FA Cup Final, 1991

A game known more for an horrific injury to Paul Gascoigne, the FA Cup Final included a bullet of a free-kick from Nottingham Forest's left-back Stuart Pearce.  Sadly for Pearce, and manager Brian Clough, Forest went down 2-1 to a Gary Lineker inspired Spurs in what was their last appearance in the Cup Final.

14.  Santi Cazorla - Arsenal (versus Hull City) - FA Cup Final, 2014

Another free-kick, this time from Spanish star Santi Cazorla.  His free-kick was too strong for Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor to keep out of City's net and set Arsenal up on the comeback trail to a 3-2 extra-time win after Hull took an early 2-0 lead.

13.  Louis Saha - Everton (versus Chelsea) - FA Cup Final, 2009

The fastest goal in FA Cup final history, Everton's Louis Saha scored after just 25 seconds to put the Toffees in the lead with a well-struck volley past Petr Cech in the Chelsea net.  Chelsea were to come back and win 2-1 to take the Cup home to Stamford Bridge.  But Saha's record will take some beating.

12.  Freddie Ljungberg - Arsenal (versus Chelsea) - FA Cup Final, 2002

Swedish attacking midfielder scored many key goals for the Gunners during his career and his goal in the 2002 FA Cup Final sealed victory over their London rivals - an omen perhaps for this Saturday? - Ljungberg picked up the ball around the halfway line and dribbled towards goal before curling in a cool finish past Carlo Cudicini to seal a 2-0 win.

11.  Michael Owen - Liverpool (versus Arsenal) - FA Cup Final, 2001

Not the most spectacular of goals, but certainly one of the most memorable.  Arsenal took the lead in the 76th minute and looked to be holding on for another Cup victory.  But up stepped Michael Owen to take over and ruin Arsenal's ambitions.  An 83rd minute equaliser gave the Reds hope and they turned their dreams into reality in the 88th minute as a through-ball from Patrik Berger sent Owen on his way and the diminutive striker outran Tony Adams and Lee Dixon to shoot past David Seaman and earn a 2nd trophy for Liverpool that season - the Anfield side would claim the UEFA Cup later in the month for a unique treble.
