Since Sepp Maier helped West Germany lift the World Cup in 1974, Reusch goalkeepers have backstopped their country to World Cup victory in 1978, 1986, 1990, 1994 and 2002, while lifting countless other trophies from the international and domestic game.

Toni Schumacher - The West German goalkeeper achieved notoriety in the 1982 World Cup with his foul on France's Patrick Battiston. Amazingly, the referee gave a goal kick to Schumacher's team![/caption]
One of the most famous keepers to don the Reusch brand was the legendary Peter Schmeichel, who between 1991 and 1999 roared Manchester United’s defence into line from his penalty box while also having the talent to throw the ball further than most keepers could kick it, which started a lot of United’s famous attacks. Schmeichel produced many memorable saves for United and Denmark while wearing the German brand's gloves, and helped the Red Devils lift the league title in 1993, ’94, ’96, ’97 and ’99, as well as 3 FA Cups and a famous European Cup win in the Nou Camp in 1999 which secured the treble. Schmeichel’s legacy has been carried on by his son Kasper who is currently keeping clean sheets galore for table-toppers Leicester City.
Other household names to wear Reusch goalkeeper gloves over the years have included the likes of West Germany’s Harald “Toni” Schumacher, who achieved infamy during the 1982 World Cup when he cynically took out France’s Patrick Battiston.

Dida helped AC Milan lift the Champions League in 2003 after a penalty shootout victory over Juventus, while Julio Cesar has worn the gloves while keeping goal for amongst others, Inter Milan, QPR and currently Benfica. Cesar won the Champions League with Inter in 2010.

That’s the keepers who wear Reusch, but what about the gloves themselves? Reusch cram a lot of technology into their goalkeeper gloves, offering a lot of different options on the types of palm available, depending on the needs of the goalkeeper and the conditions they are playing in. One of the top palms in the Reusch glove roster is the Duo G2 Ultrasoft, seen on the Waorani Pro Duo G2. Featuring a flat palm, these gloves are the pinnacle of Reusch’s palm technology, and offer outstanding grip in wet and dry conditions. Great cushioning is provided in the 4mm German latex palm, while the palm is very strong and durable thanks to the materials used which help with abrasion resistance. An additional layer of latex inside the glove guarantees maximum absorption and optimal contact between the palm and hand for secure catching.

Another great type of Reusch glove to look out for is the models carrying the S1 Supersoft latex palm. It can be found on our Waorani Pro S1 Bundesliga gloves which feature a negative cut on the palm, and the Waorani Pro S1 which has a green/white/yellow colourway to give them a Brazilian flavour. The negative cut is a classic design, favoured by goalkeepers on the continent, and involves all seams being located inside the glove, which ensures a tighter fit to offer higher ball control.
The Argos Q1 features a Quad Grip palm which offers a combination of high grip qualities and high abrasion resistance, making this glove ideal for use on artificial and hard grounds as well as natural grass pitches.

The most popular type of palm on the Reusch gloves is the SG palm. SG stands for Soft Grip, and is a high-grade latex palm with a smooth surface that is suited for beginners as well as advanced goalkeepers. It offers a reliable grip and damping qualities and is great in dry conditions and on natural grass surfaces. Reusch gloves that have the SG palm are the Waorani SG Elite Special Rollfinger and the Waorani SG Impact LTD edition in the white/blue/yellow colour that was seen on all Reusch gloves used at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Popular with goalkeepers in the UK, a rollfinger palm features the palm being rolled all the way up to the backhand latex which makes the fingers rolled and completely surrounded by latex. By doing this, the latex surrounds the fingers ergonomically and removes the seams from within the finger zones. This offers the largest catching area possible.
Suffered from injuries to your fingers keeping the ball out of the net and want a glove that is ideal for using in training where you will face the most shots? Then the Keon SG Plus Finger Support is the one for you. Featuring a soft grip palm, these gloves in white and orange include finger spine supports in the finger and thumb slots preventing your fingers from bending back past their natural position upon impact from the football.
